Fakhrul, Taher, and 4 politicians accompany chief advisor to UN

The interim government’s chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is going to New York on Monday (September 22) to attend the UN General Assembly. This time, the government has included four political leaders in the list of the chief advisor’s entourage. Among them are two from BNP, one from Jamaat and a leader from Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP).

Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain gave this information at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday (September 17).

Towhid Hossain said, “Four politicians are going in our delegation this time. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s International Affairs Secretary Humayun Kabir, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain.” However, it is not known how many people will be in the chief advisor’s entourage apart from politicians.

The foreign affairs advisor explained the reason for including politicians in the list of the chief advisor’s entourage. He said, “This has been done because we are moving towards a stage where politicians are taking over the overall management of the country. Accordingly, we have included them in the delegation.”
